Isabeau kommer till Spindle Manor för att döda en av tio gäster som bär skinnet av människor. Hon är monsterjägaren som får ett par "vanliga" mord på halsen mitt under monsterjakten. Det blir en intensiv jakt på mördaren för alla har sina egna hemligheter. 

Boken har allt - humor, tempo, övernaturliga väsen, metafysik, spöken, intressant världsbygge och en hel del Agatha Christie vibbar. Jag visste inte att det var en deckar-fantasy jag behövde i mitt liv. Det är många karaktärer att hålla reda på i början, men de är så pass väl utmejslade att det inte är krångligt att skilja dom åt. Det enda som jag uppfattade som negativt var att Isabeau´s utläggningar blev lite väl långa och krångliga att följa med i logiken.
